Crane Size &
Lift Planner

Enter your load weight and lift radius to instantly see which crane fits your job and what it costs. Takes 10 seconds.

Two Inputs. Instant Answer.

1

Enter Load Weight

The total weight of everything being lifted — load, rigging, hook block, and any attachments.

2

Enter Lift Radius

The horizontal distance from the crane's centre of rotation to the load. The further the radius, the less a crane can lift.

What Crane Do I Need?

Two numbers, that's it. No boom length, no rigging math — set your load weight and lift radius, and we'll tell you the crane and what it starts at.

Close to capacity. This lift uses most of that crane's working limit at your radius. Site conditions could push it over — call us before you plan around this number.
Heavy lift territory

Lifts at this weight and radius get matched to specialized equipment and a proper lift plan. That's routine work for us — it just isn't something a two-slider estimate can price honestly. Send us the site details and we'll come back with a firm number.

Estimates assume standard outrigger-extended 360° lift conditions and conservative working limits (85% of rated chart capacity). Final pricing depends on site conditions, travel distance, overtime hours, permits, and rigging requirements. Always confirm with a lift plan.

Crane Lift FAQ

01How do I know what size crane I need?

Two things drive it: the weight of your load and the lift radius — the horizontal distance from the crane's centre of rotation out to where the load has to land.

Radius matters more than most people expect. A crane that handles a load easily at 20 feet may not touch it at 60. Use the planner above for a starting point, then call us to confirm against your actual site conditions.

We match equipment to the job rather than fitting every job to a fixed fleet:

  • 28-ton boom trucks — residential truss packages, rooftop HVAC units, sign installations
  • 50-ton boom trucks — heavier mechanical and structural work, larger-radius lifts
  • 80-ton truck cranes — major industrial and commercial applications

Coverage runs across Hamilton, Niagara, and the Greater Toronto Area.

It comes down to which crane the job needs and how long it's on site. Our standard rates:

  • 28-ton boom truck — $220/hr, 5-hour minimum ($1,100)
  • 50-ton boom truck — $260/hr, 5-hour minimum ($1,300)
  • 80-ton truck crane — $380/hr, 8-hour minimum ($3,040)

Travel time, overtime outside regular hours, permits, and special rigging are additional. Use the estimator at the top of this page for your specific lift, then call for a firm quote.

The more of this you can give us up front, the faster we can confirm the right equipment:

  • Approximate weight of the load
  • Required lift radius and height
  • Site location and access conditions
  • Any overhead obstacles or ground bearing concerns
  • Your preferred date or timeframe

Call us directly or use the contact form — either works.

It varies by municipality and job type. Road closures, lifts over public property, and work near utilities or airports may all require permits.

We'll flag what's needed as part of planning the lift and help coordinate where we can. Responsibility for permits is assigned on a per-job basis, as set out in our service terms.

Our operators retain the right to refuse or suspend work in unsafe conditions — high winds, lightning, or ice.

Lightning protocol requires work to stop when strikes are detected within 30 kilometres, with a minimum 30-minute clear period before resuming. We flag weather concerns early and work with you to reschedule wherever possible. Weather standby is billable at the crane's hourly rate, as set out in our service terms.
